iColo: A Digital Realty Company Announced as Latest Strategic Partner for LINX Nairobi

iColo: A Digital Realty Company has today announced that the London Internet Exchange (LINX) has selected their NBO1 data center in Nairobi as the latest full point of presence (PoP) partner for the new East African interconnection hub, LINX Nairobi.

In 2022, LINX announced that they were working with local partners in East Africa to plan, build and deliver the future-proof, multi-site interconnection platform for global networks, with the ability to scale alongside the fast-growing digital landscape in Kenya. In addition, this is the first physical footprint for the internet exchange point (IXP) in Africa, which will ensure growth and opportunities across new markets in Africa, to enhance connectivity, and bring digital services to citizens.

NBO1 is a carrier-neutral data center connectivity hub for enterprise and financial customers and will become a PoP for LINX Nairobi in the coming weeks.

Ranjith Cherickel, CEO, iColo commented on the new partnership: “The entry of a global IXP like LINX to our ecosystem will spur on network peering in Africa by allowing customers to exchange traffic locally and avoid costly transit routes.”

With over 25 years of experience in providing world-class engineering and support services to over 850 global networks, the team at LINX are looking forward to taking their first steps in Africa with LINX Nairobi.

Nurani Nimpuno, Head of Global Engagement, LINX said: “LINX Nairobi will be the first interconnected, multi-site IXP in Kenya. Interconnected IXPs such as LINX Nairobi, aim to serve the entire ecosystem in a market, and it adds additional redundancy and resilience for our member networks. We are looking forward to extending our strong partner relations with Digital Realty in Europe, to Africa. The iColo team are experts in their field and we are very much looking forward to working together.”
